The Reese so called "heirloom" wedding ring
Kelly Ravitz So here's a fun story that will make everybody laugh. My wedding ring is sitting in a safe deposit box at a Bank of America for the next 24 years until Rylie turns 28 and inherits it. Why is this??? Apparently, this diamond set in my wedding band was an "heirloom" from Ryan's grandmother's grandmother. That would have to mean that the diamond was hundreds of years old..............One of Ryan Reese's requests was to have this ring appraised before it went to the safe deposit box for the next 24 years. We took it to a wonderful gemologist in Scottsdale for the appraisal. At the appointment, Ryan was showing off and decided that he would ask how old she thought the diamond was. Her exact words were "There is no way to tell the exact age of this diamond, however there is no way it could be our grandmother's age." The room sure did get quiet. The next day I called the gemologist to confirm that what I heard was true. I then asked her how she could tell that the diamond could not have been that old just to hear what her explanation would be. She said that the way a stone is cut can tell the era that it comes from, and that was how she knew that it was a newer stone. BUSTED!!Now lets go back a year and a half. This diamond was given to Ryan from his Grandmother, Shirley Reese, and was in some other piece of jewelry from her second husband. Ryan and I then took the diamond to Hyde Park and picked out a band together to have it set in. Heirloom??? Hmmmmmm...........I guess I should also mention that Ryan's grandmother, Shirley Reese Berninger gave him this diamond for me before she had ever met me. Isn't an heirloom usually something of great importance to a family that is passed down from generation to generation?? I guess Rylie will be recieving a nice piece of bling on her 28th birthday.
